The Day a Virus Killed the California Democrats

The year was 2020.  For some, it was the best of times.  For others, it was the worst of times.  But for all it was a dangerous time with a deadly virus seemingly lurking around every corner.

California Democrats on primary election day, nearly blinded with hatred of the seated Republican president, were oblivious to the lurking viral danger when they went to vote on that otherwise pleasant Tuesday in early March.  Many of those voters chronicled their hatred of the president upon speaking to the news reporters at the polls. Those voters came to regret any disregard of the danger, however.  Because the virus hit them like a really big ocean wave behind an even bigger ocean wave, they never saw it coming until it was too late – as they were unable to see beyond their common hatred of the incumbent Republican president, anyhow.

While they stood in line waiting to vote and relishing in their combined hatred of the president, little did the Democrat voters realize the Corona virus was apparently there with them as well.  As the air crackled with negative energy being spewn towards the president in Washington, DC, so too was the atmosphere apparently alive with the spores of the latest deadly virus to come ashore from Asia.  As clouds of legalized marijuana smoke wafted aloft, additionally were those deadly spores also apparently inhaled by the would-be revelers.  (However, cigarettes were not allowed – as this was California, after all.  Cigarettes required a mile walk and a fee of $20.)

Good times or Bad Times, Vote One’s Opinion
For many, it was the first time in over a decade that jobs were available to the masses in California and the rest of the country as well – mostly due to the election of the Republican president and his policies.  For others not concerned about any employment, their only worry appeared to be that the growing economy and favorable employment numbers made the Republican president appear as competent and therefore likely to be reelected – much to their chagrin.

Consequently, the hate-laden Democrats protested, moaned, and cried in never-ending efforts to prevent any success from being credited to the president.  Even the Democratic leadership in Sacramento (the “Sactown Socialists”) apparently did their darnedest to ensure no economic recovery would befall California for the same reason.  The Democrats in Washington, DC further tried to impeach the president with unattested hearsay witnesses and the like, in an apparent attempt to ensure the president would be unsuccessful and his legacy would be marred as well as the president would not be able to expose any more typical corruption of the political insiders, if he were impeached and/or removed from office.

Either way, and regardless of one’s political opinions, the primary election day was sure to arrive.  Finally, the continual hatred spewed by the average Democrat could be officially counted in the form of a vote for the varying degrees of socialism and/or status-quo politicians being put forth by the Democrats – all of whom were vying for the opportunity to oppose the incumbent Republican president in the November general election.  And, after all, voting one’s disdain for the president was much safer and more socially acceptable than blocking freeways and city streets – protests which the Dems had repeatedly attempted in the past since the last general election which was won by this Republican president.

Exposure to the Virus
Behind the political landscape, however, the deadly Corona virus (COVID-19) with its 14-day incubation period was beginning to run rampant on the West Coast of the United States – as it already had in many other parts of the world.  Exposed Americans, particularly those who were weak and infirmed, were beginning to succumb to the virus.  While the young and ignorant could be infected and not even be aware of the fact and therefore merely they could carry the virus to others who were more susceptible.  All of which made for a deadly combination on a primary election day where the masses would wait in lines for hours to vote.

State officials were surely aware of these facts concerning the spread of the virus prior to the primary election day.  Because, in keeping with its typically inept and behind the curve approach to solving problems, for example,  the day after the primary election was held, many state, county, and city government officials announced that public gatherings should be curtailed, and the populace should prepare for the closing of schools and the like – all to prevent the spread of the virus.

But no such foresight was voiced prior to the California Democrats being allowed to convene en masse at the polls to vent their hatred of the incumbent Republican president in the primary election.  As to prevent such venting would surely appear as traitorous to the average hate-filled and malcontent Democrat anyhow – a shared viewpoint by the average Sactown Socialist and typical California politician on nearly every level.

Even more ironic, this was the first time that California had its primary earlier in the year due to the spearheading of the advanced date by the California politicians.  It was believed that an earlier primary date would make California more “relevant” in the primary elections and in the determination of the final presidential nominees.  Had the primary election taken place in June, as it always had historically, any threat of the virus could have likely passed.

New Voting Machines Added to the Pandemic
New computer tablet-type voting machines, apparatus, and procedures were available in much of the state and the populous counties of California.  But the apparatus merely helped to spread the virus.  Because the new apparatus gave a channel for the virus to be spread - as the apparatus surface merely collected the virus to which all the voters then touched and contacted to cast their votes.

Furthermore, the malfunctioning of the new apparatus also lengthened the delay to which all the voters had to endure.  There again, adding to the voter’s potential exposure time to the deadly virus brought on by the masses and especially the ignorant and seemingly immune youth.  Again, a virus to which its exposure the typical Democrat voter was willing to risk in order to vote for their preferred status-quo / insider-politician candidate or their preferred socialist candidate.  The risk of exposure was justified to them as long as the Dem voters were able to voice their hatred of the Republican president, regardless.

Disgruntled Democrats Showed-up to Vote in Droves
So, when the primary election day finally arrived, the disgruntled Democrats naturally arrived in droves at the polls.  For nearly four years the Dems had waited to officially voice their disdain for the Republican president.  On-the-spot voter registration surely allowed for more desired voter fraud in favor of the establishment-preferred Democrats but concurrently again exacerbated the delay to vote for the masses of Democrats waiting in the lines to vent their hatred of the president.  Many waited for several hours in extremely long lines to vote.  Notably, it was unclear to the rest of us why the Dem voters didn’t merely vote in advance or by mail – which was widely advertised as available to all.

Virus Took Hold, Few Dems Survived in Cal.
Subsequently, within weeks of the primary election, throngs of infected Californians began to succumb to the virus.  Alarmingly, as it turned out, many of the newly infected were Democrats who had voted at the polls on the primary election day.  As there seemed to be no other mode of exposure, it was eventually determined that exposure to the virus had likely occurred during the primary voting.  Government-sponsored health care was overwhelmed and over-run, of course, and unable to treat the numbers of afflicted.

As the Republicans after the election were then firmly in control in Washington, DC, and as many of them resented the year-over-year hatred continually spewed their direction from the Democrats in California, national assistance may have been slow to come to the West Coast to aid in the difficulties with the virus.  Furthermore, since the old Democrat political machines and systems which had controlled California for several decades had done its best to run the Republicans out of the state along with the majority of the middle class, much of the rest of the nation were less-motivated and not so sympathetic to aid in the viral dilemmas that came to pass in Cal.

And so it came to be that the once mighty California Democrats mirrored the fate of the fabled California grizzly bear.  That is, they disappeared and there is little to show that they were ever here.  Now, and in the years that followed that 2020 election year, there were not many Democrats to vote in any elections in California.

Of course, in the end, it was all good for those who survived the virus.  Because with the departure of the tax-happy Democrat politicians in Sactown – politicians who seemed to know nothing of economics, California has since nearly returned to its gold-rush days relevant to economic opportunity in the state.

So, one never knows what might come from anything.  And, if nothing else, the virus did leave us with lots of entertaining (yet somewhat violent) reality television-type viewing in the form of posted videos of big-box store customers fighting over who gets to buy the last package of toilet-paper in the store; something one would not expect to see in a typical day.
